Ronald Theisen grew up in Northwest Detroit, Michigan. He attended St. Marys of Redford High School in Detroit and then Wayne State University where he graduated in 1964 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts degree. His majors were in painting and sculpture. Painting was his favorite media. He took courses after graduation at Henry Ford Commuity College and Michigan State University and classes with established artists.
Ronald worked at Ford Motor Company for 32 years in various purchasing positions and retired in 1996. He is married and has two children and three grandchildren. He lives in Harbor Springs, Michigan in the summer and Naples, Florida in the winter.
Recently Ronald came back to painting when a friend convinced him to join her in some classes and group activities. He has been actively pursuing plein air painting in both Florida and Michigan and has participated in several exhibits in both states. His favorite media is oil and subject matter centering around dunes, beaches and landscapes.
