Jeremy Ripley

Jeremy Ripley was raised in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. He is part of Michigan's heritage, with ancestors of Indian Tribes and European settlers that shaped Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula. Jeremy grew up with an interest and support of the arts through his family, public schooling and local community. From exploring with various media such as clay and metal at Sault Area High School, he went on to study sculpture. In 2002, Jeremy earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Sculpture from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. Also in 2002, he borrowed his first loom and began to teach himself how to weave. In 2003, he combined his sculptural skills and new interest in textiles and began a position at Frenchy's Custom Upholstery in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. His current weaving brings together a long heritage of handwoven textiles with modern sophistication.

Pictured below are some of Jeremy's scarfs in natural alpaca and large throws in local hand dyed wool.
