SHIBORI + INDIGO DYEING

Tuesdays, July & August
1–4pm
$30/day studio fee + $5–$50 materials

Discover the beauty of shibori, a traditional Japanese dyeing technique that uses folding, twisting, pleating, and binding to create intricate patterns. Working with natural indigo—a rich, plant-based blue dye—you’ll explore a range of resist methods and tools to produce one-of-a-kind textiles.

A selection of dyeable items will be available for purchase, or bring your own natural fiber pieces to transform.

Special Summer Projects:

  • Reimagine treasured textiles or thrifted finds by dyeing them in layered indigo hues.
  • Fabrics must be 100% natural fibers such as cotton, linen, silk, or bamboo.
  • The session fee includes up to four small personal items; additional or larger pieces may require a small dipping fee.
  • Create custom shibori bandanas to elevate your everyday style or use as beautifully designed napkins.
  • Studio-purchased items may be dyed in unlimited quantities during your session.

  • Wear it as a headscarf or necktie, or add a personal touch by tying it to a bag or jacket.
